The challenge at McCain Foods was to gain control over a broad spectrum of logistical requirements from 72-foot boxcars, to intermodal, to full truck, to multi-stock truckload, down to LTL in shipping frozen foods.
McCain Foods deployed Logility Voyager Solutions™ and reduced freight expense by $2 million in first two years of operation by more effectively matching loads with low cost carriers. The company also improved on-time performance and overall service to customers; expanded carriers from 60 to 132 due to capacity needs without increasing personnel; generated additional savings through implementation of a more effective carrier rate negotiation process; and improved load/unload performance by 92%. McCain Foods now has the ability to receive and accept all the tenders automatically via EDI with no manual intervention, and can proactively evaluate and monitor carrier performance, including load tendering.
