Ben Benjabutr
Lots of people said they do VMI but they don't share forecast or demand data to suppliers, this is kind of misconception. Another complex issue about VMI is how manufactures should analyze demand data from retailers.

Shaun Snapp
This article was really good. I love this quote:

"A common misperception is that supply chain capabilities from ERP providers are fully integrated and lead to quicker deployment with a lower cost of ownership."

Sometimes I have to pinch myself to remember that people actually still believe this. The "SAP has a lower TCO" group could find common cause with the Flat Earth Society (which exists by the way). As I talk to more people about this its clear that the research on TCO is simply not being done and many companies are allowing themselves to be walked through a software selection by a major consulting company or by corporate IT, which results in an outcome that is may be good for these parties, but is generally quite negative for the business. Since most software selections are kept at such a high level the less capable vendors with monopoly power continue to have high levels of success. This extended to products which are really just beta offerings, but still win over completely mature solutions offered by best of breed vendors, that is as long as the beta is offered by a monopoly vendor.
